Full house at the children’s theatre workshop – Kultar’s Mime

The “Kultar’s Mime” Theatre team organised a children’s theatre workshop on 22 May 2016 at Sri Dasmesh International School in Kuala Lumpur, attended by some 30 children, aged 4 to 16 years old.

Poet Sarbpreet Singh and the play director Jaskirat Kaur (J Mehr Kaur) were also at the workshop to lend a helping hand to the cast members, who brilliantly kept these energetic group of children occupied throughout the two hours workshop.

It was an organised chaotic mess in the hall. Children were split up into groups and none were shy to come forward to act out a particular scene or emotion. Bear in mind, almost half of these children had never had the opportunity to act or received any acting lessons. Yet, they were quick on their feet and improvised well to ensure a holistic play or scene was exhibited.

A lot of what was learned at the workshop is relevent to their daily lives. It helped build their imagination and confidence. Theatre games and exercises are actually a great help in developing and improving every day interaction skills. They learned and displayed the importance of being attentive and part of a team because there is no ‘I’ in theatre.

If you missed this well organised workshop, there would be another workshop for young adults on the morning of 29 May 2016. It will be in Kuala Lumpur. For more information contact Surin at 010.2205821 (KL Workshop).

Tickets for  the “Kultar’s Mime” play are still available and can be purchased on the day of the play. Their last show for this tour would be on the 29 May 2016 at Temple of Fine Arts, Brickfields. The show starts at 6pm and the tickets are priced from RM40 onwards.
