Malaysian-born Baljeet Kaur Grewal appeared on international news channel CNBC talking about Kazakh fund embarking on a privatization program on international news channel CNBC.
Baljeet, the managing director for strategy and portfolio investments at sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna, has been on numerous roadshows with the team from Kazakhstan ever since her appointment last year.
“We have over the last two years embarked on a very ambitious transformation program that essentially saw us disruptiong the status-quo of lot of our national companies to prepare them for th next stage of the market reform which is essentially the privatisation,” she tells the news channel Squawk Box programme. Before moving to Astana, Kazaskhtan, Baljeet was the Managing Director & Vice Chairman of KFH Research Ltd, heading the global economic and investment research and advisory teams at research subsidiary of the Kuwait-based Islamic bank.
She was formerly the Head of Investment Banking Research at Maybank Group. Prior to that, she had stints at ABN AMRO Bank and Deutsche Bank, London, with experiences ranging from credit structuring, loan syndication and economic and capital market research.
