Students of the late Baba Bhondhu, a respected Punjabi teacher endowed with so many other talents, will be gathering in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 5 in his memory.
A retired railways technician, Master Puran Singh was also a dramatist, handyman, poet and a gatka exponent.
“He had around 60 to 70 students (or maybe more) in 1970’s. He taught us Gurbani path, Punjabi language and art,” Param Jit Kaur, one former student who now lives in Klang, Selangor, said in an email to Asia Samachar.
The planned gathering will be at Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Kampung Pandan, Kuala Lumpur.
In some of the photographs, Param Jit recalls the presence of the late Naschatar Singh, who she said used to work with Baba Bhondhu at Rama Sports and also acted together in some Punjabi plays together. Both were also good in Gatka.
