Flying Sikh Milkha Singh turns 90 today (20 Nov), still playing gold and doing his daily morning runs.

“I am thankful to the almighty…It’s like any other day for me and I will be playing golf and going for my run in the morning,” he told Chandigarh Newsline.

The former Commonwealth Games and Asian Games athlete is also not a fan of big celebrations.

He added: “As always, I don’t believe in celebrating my birthday in a grand manner and have a party. Since my grandson Harjai Milkha Singh wants me to celebrate the birthday, we will cut a cake in the evening.”

The legendary Milka, who had served in the Indian army, inspired Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, a biographical movie based on his life.

Married to Nirmal Kaur on 5 May 1962, the couple lives in Chandigarh in Punjab, India.
