Punjab Kaur, who served as the principal of the Guru Kalgidhar School in Ipoh, Perak, passed away on 21 Dec 2016. She was 98.

She was also active at a volunteer at Gurdwara Sahib Police, Ipoh.

“She used to educate the ladies on many things,” Bhajan Kaur, one of the life-long friends, tells Asia Samachar.

Her late husband, fondly called Master Bhag Singh, had also taught at the Guru Kalgidhar School. The school, located in Buntong and under the care of a Sikh society, has been operating as a government school for many years now.

  1. Master Bhag Singh was the teacher of my dad Gyani Darbara Singh Daler and both were from the same Village Tallewal in Barnala. As a child i remember spending school holidays at the Guru Kalghidhar School nearby the Sg Pari Buntong. Guru Kalghdhar School was one of the Officially Govt Aided PUNJABI Language schools in the country. Master Bhag Singh passed away many years ago… Condolences to the bereaved family.

  2. My condolences to the family.
Many deceased have monies in EPF, CoOperatives, etc and benefits available from SOCSO and if the person was a member of any association. Relatives of Government pensioners are also entitled to RM3K grant from the Pensions Department and this does not need any receipts of expenditure.
Suggest any family member go through the old documents to confirm as not many parents tell their spouses, siblings or children of what they have or where they have and this also applies to other family members including spouses and children and siblings.
I realise that this may not be the right time to say all this but it is important otherwise the money if any, will end up with transfer to UNCLAIMED MONEYS REGISTRAR from where it is very cumbersome to collect. Apologies if misunderstood.
ALL GURDWARAS-MANDIRS-SOCIETIES-NGOs-INDIVIDUALS SHOULD PROVIDE SUCH ADVICE AS AND WHEN NECESSARY WHO MAY BE AFFECTED INCLUDING THOSE STILL LIVING TO PREVENT RECOVERY PROBLEMS.
MAY MATA JIs SOUL BE WITH WAHE GURU JI
