EKTA Club of Kuala Lumpur & Selangor will take another step in its community work with the soft launch of its Senior Citizens’ Activity Centre at Wisma Tatt Khalsa, Kuala Lumpur, on Oct 3.
The centre is envisaged as a space where seniors can connect, learn and enjoy social interaction, with activities ranging from mingling sessions and craft activities to chair yoga, jelly making and *boliyaan*.
The launch follows EKTA’s fundraising drive last year, when it raised RM550,000 at a gala dinner, with RM450,000 earmarked to establish its first Sikh senior citizens’ activity centre in the Klang Valley. At the time, club president Kuldip Kaur said EKTA was looking for a suitable centre.
The initiative builds on EKTA’s continuing engagement with seniors. Its 2024 Senior Citizen’s Day drew 280 Sikh women aged 75 and above, while a senior-focused hi-tea last year attracted another strong turnout.
The Oct 3 programme will run from 2.30pm to 5pm.
