The Malaysian Sikh community is blessed with many young adults in leadership positions in their work places, social organisations, institutions of learning, in fact in every group they are in. Many more have the potential to be in such leadership roles in due course. The Malaysian Young Sikh Leaders Initiative (MYSLI) is being set up as a platform for all these current and future leaders to network for personal growth and community development.
The MYSLI aims to foster in young people a holistic understanding of the contemporaneous challenges humanity faces and to empower them to use entrepreneurial principles and skills to create dynamism and change within themselves that meet these challenges while practising collaboration and moral integrity.
Being an initiative by the young Sikh leaders, of young Sikh leaders and for young Sikh leaders, it will ensure that participants learn to live and work together despite their different social, economic and cultural backgrounds. It would teach them to collaborate with whomever they work with, and bring out the strengths and talents of their peers.
Some planned programmes for MYSLI:
1. Launch at GS Parliament on 9 Jan, 7-9pm
2. Seminar and Book Launch at UM on 23 Jan
3. Entrepreneur Startup Bootcamp on 25-27 March
4. Staging of Kultar’s Mime in May/June
5. Personal Development Camps with renowned local and foreign experts
6. Community projects in Malaysia and abroad in partnership with various Organisations
If you are a Sikh between 18-35 years of age, currently in a leadership position in your company, organisation or your IPTS/IPTA and are making decisions that impact the lives of others, then the Malaysian Young Sikh Leaders Initiative is for you. It is also for you if you see yourself in a leadership role in the near future.
Feel free to join the group and be a part of creating an exciting new dawn in the Malaysian Sikh community together with other like minded leaders like you.
Check out our Facebook page for further updates and do not miss our launch at the Gurdwara Sahib Parliament this Saturday, 9th January 2016 from 7pm-9pm.
Note: The Malaysian Young Sikh Leaders Initiative is being set up by the Coalition of Malaysian Sikh Organisations (CMSO).
