Lawyer and former Singapore lawmaker Davinder Singh, recognised as the republic’s best dispute lawyer at a regional award last year, has been appointed to an international legal body.
The chief executive officer of Drew & Napier has been named a vice-chairman of the Paris-based ICC Commission on Corporate Responsibility and Anti-corruption.
SC Singh is understood to be the only Singaporean lawyer appointed to the leadership of one of 13 policy commissions under the ICC, reports The Straits Times (12 Feb 2016).
The ICC, or International Chamber of Commerce, is a private-sector world business organisation with a central role in international trade and commerce, which forges international rules, mechanisms and standards used across the globe.
In September 2015, Davinder was named Singapore’s best dispute lawyer at the inaugural Asialaw Asia-Pacific Dispute Resolution Awards 2015.

He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1982 and joined the Litigation Department of Drew & Napier thereafter. He was in the first batch of Senior Counsel appointed in 1997, according to his profile available at the firm’s website.
Davinder, who has been a commercial lawyer and advocate for over 30 years, was also a former Member of Parliament for the Bishan-Tao Payoh Group Representation Constituency from 1988 to 2006.
