The Istrisatsang division of the Malaysia Gurdwara council will be having a one-day program tommorrow (25 June 2016) in Kuantan, Pahang, for the benefit of our Sikh families in the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

The events will start at the Gurdwara Sahib Kuantan at 8am with a darbar sahib program of prayers and kirtan katha by the istrisatsang ladies from Bentong and Kuantan.

This will be followed with a talk by Dr Ajit Kaur on anxiety, loneliness, depression and alzheimers.

We will wind up for the morning with an exciting session called ‘Wrapunzel- the art of scraf wrapping’ just before lunch.

The program is designed for men and women, especially our young girls. Men are invited to attend this function along with their families.
MGC president Jagir Singh will be attending along with some of the committee members. The will be also be a contingent of ladies from Perak.

The Istrisatsang Division of the MGC was formed eight years ago. It was the brainchild of Jagir Singh.

It aims to foster goodwill and encourage fellowship among the numerous Istrisatsangs groups throughout Malaysia. There is an Istrisatsang in almost all the gurdwaras around Malaysia and ladies form a good 50% of the Sikh community.

The Istrisatsangs are well known for their continuous sewa at the gurdwaras and their weekly Sukmani Sahib sessions.

The MGC Istrisatsang organises an annual Istrisatsang samagan attended by Istrsatsangs from the various states in Malaysia. This year, the annual Samagam will be in Gurdwara Sahib Malacca on 10-11 December 2016. This will be their eight annual samagam.

Dr Amarjeet Kaur, a Ipoh based medical practitioneer, is the the chairperson of MGC Istri satsang committee
