Sikhs in Thailand will get their chance to catch the animation movie on Nov 19 and 20. Hong Kong screening is today and tomorrow (Nov 12-13)
Chaar Sahibzaade: Rise of Banda Singh Bahadur was released on 11 Nov.
The animation is directed by Harry Baweja and produced by Pammi Baweja.
“Witness an extraordinary tale of heroism unfold in this awe-inspiring story of one of history’s greatest unsung heroes,” according to early promotion material for the animation.
Banda Singh Bahadur (1670-1716), eighteenth-century Sikh warrior who for the first time seized territory for the Khalsa and paved the way for the ultimate conquest of the Punjab by them, was born Lachhman Dev in Kashmir, according to a three-page entry in The Encyclopaedia of Sikhism edited by Prof Harbans Singh (Vol 1, Punjabi University, Patiala).
Chaar Sahibzaade is the endearing reference to the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs. The maiden animation, released two years ago, revolved around the lives and martyrdom of Sahibzaada Ajit Singh, Sahibzaada Jujhar Singh, Sahibzaada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzaada Fateh Singh.
The first premiere show of the fully-animated movie was shown in Bangkok, Thailand, on 2 Nov 2014, with its director Harry Baweja present.
