A Kuala Lumpur-based gurdwara will feature for the first time on the cover of a special stamp series that will be released by the Malaysian postal services on Monday (21 Nov 2016).
Gurdwara Sahib Shapha in Sungai Besi is one of the give places of worship featured in a series to celebrate Malaysia’s cultural and religious diversity.
The Pos Malaysia collection will also feature Kapitan Keling Mosque (Penang), St Francis Xavier’s Church (Malacca), Sri Kandaswamy Temple (Kuala Lumpur) and Perak Cave Temple (Perak).
“We are issuing this special stamp collection to highlight the harmony of different places of worship found in Malaysia,” Pos Malaysia Group CEO Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh told reporters, reports The Malay Mail Online.
A total of 750,000 stamps will be sold in Malaysia and each stamp produced is limited to 150,000 pieces. Each stamp is of 60 sen denomination.
Stamp and philately unit head Diyana Lean Abdullah said the stamp is regarded as an investment, as the value of the stamp increases depending on the quantity produced, the same report added.
