UPDATED: A recently married Sikh couple was involved in an accident near Gerik, Perak, that killed two people and left one seriously injured.

Keshvinder Singh Jit Singh and his mother Raj Kaur Uttam Singh died when their Perodua Myvi car collided with a lorry at Jalan Gerik-Lenggong at 1.37am this morning (11 Dec), reports Utusan Online quoting an unnamed spokesman from the fire brigade.

Savin Kaur, who married Keshvinder in September, was seriously injured. Hailing from Bercham, Perak, she is a nurse at KPJ Rawang. She had earlier worked at KPJ Ipoh.

“She is fighting for her life at General Hospital Taiping,” one police source told Asia Samachar when contacted in the early afternoon.

The driver and the assistant of the 10-ton lorry escaped unharmed, the report added.

“The accident also involved a Honda City car whose give passengers only suffered minor injuries,” the fire brigade spokesman said.

The funeral of the mother and son will be held at Serendah at 2pm tomorrow (12 Dec 2016). The cortege will leave their home in Country Homes at 1pm.

“They will be deeply missed by family and friends,” read one message sent by a family member.
