Free medical clinics at Kampar semagam

KAMPAR, MALAYSIA: A free medical, dental and eye screening was held at Gurdwaras Sahib Kampar, Perak, during the Dasmesh Pita Semagam programme last week.

The medical camp was organised by Pertubuhan Pembangunan Insan Sikh Perak (PPIS) in collaboration with the Ministry of health (MOH).

“A great crowd and many benefited from this screening,” said PPIS chairman Dr Jasvinder Singh Dhillon in his Facebook posting, who is himself an eye specialist based in Ipoh, Perak. “This is the second year that we are organising this semagam and we hope it will be a annual event.”

Among those involved were Dr Rajveer Dhaliwal, dentist Dr Prasana.Dr Thialaga, Dr Thilaga from eye clinic at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Dr Ranjit Kaur from University Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Singapore-based nurses Narin Kaur Dillon and Shahbina Majid.

He said Dr Ranjit managed to examine many with diabetes and hypertension, referring them for further management in health clinics.

Earlier, Dr Jasvinder had invited Singh Sahib Giani Jaswant Singh Parwana, former head granthi of Harmandir Sahib, to his eye clinic for an eye check-up.

“Felt great as this is the only sewa that i can offer to babaji..He has promised to be back to Kampar to be with us in future for many more semagam`ss and religious events,” he had updated on his Facebook. Parwana was one of the speakers at the Kampar programme.

The five-day  programme was jointly organised by PPIS, Gurdwara Sahib Kampar, Sikh Naujawan Sabha Kampar and Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia. –  Asia Samachar (Jan 12, 2015)
