Many of our the Sikhs who had come to Perak were involved in tin mining. What was life like for them in those days? What is the history of the gurdwaras in Perak’s Kinta district?
Join the Gurdwara Herigate Trail 2015 to get answers to some of these questions.
Organised by SNSM Perak, the heritage trail is happening on June 21. It wil start at Gurdwara Sahib Ashby Road, Ipoh, at 7.45am.
The trail will bus participants to a number of gurdwaras in Perak. They include gurdwaras in Tronoh Mines, Changkat Tin, Ayer Papan, Tanjung Tualang , Malim Nawar, Changkat Batu Gajah, Gopeng Road and Batu Gajah.
Those are areas filled with Sikh history. This is a great chance to know part of story of our earlier Sikhs in this part of the world.
Take Tanjung Tualang, for example. The photograph above is that of the old gurdwara, now under renovation.
The trail will include a visit to an old folks home in Tanjung Tualang and a small cattle farm.
