Fourteen years old Trimann Raj Kaur Johl emerged champion at a recent public speaking competition organised by a local private university in Kuala Lumpur.
She was the youngest amongst the 100-odd secondary students who took part in the HELP University Public Speaking Competition (U-18) in mid-April.
But she did not flinch after being selected to represent Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Petaling, Petaling Jaya.
She held her nerves going up against fellow competitors from national and international schools in the Klang Valley.
When contacted by Asia Samachar, her mother Kiranjeet Kaur said Trimann had always had a flair of language and loved reading.
When asked what advise they would give to parents, Kiranjeet said: “Never doubt their ability. Expose them to multiple events and let them and allow them to make their mistakes. That is the key to picking up and striving forward.”
