Rajpal Singh, who has served at Singapore diplomatic missions in Indonesia and Brunei, will assume duties as the new consul-general at the Singapore Consulate-General in Johor Bahru on Dec 24.
Rajpal, 38, hopes to ‘find new areas for cooperation and facilitate further relationship between the two countries’, according to a Bernama report.
The former deputy director (Southeast Asia 1) at the Singapore Foreign Affairs Ministry takes over from Ian Mak, 37, who has served for three years in that capacity.
Rajpal, who has been with the ministry for 12 years, served as the first secretary at the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta from 2006 to 2010 and as the deputy high commissioner at the Singapore High Commission in Brunei from 2010 to 2013. He graduated from the National University of Singapore with a degree in history, the report adds.
