MESSAGE FROM FAMILY: Sardarni Inderjite Kaur was born in Buntong Ipoh. After her marriage, she lived in Sentul, and Kampung Pandan, both in Kuala Lumpur, before permanently settling down in her current home in Selayang Baru, Selangor.
She was an accomplished ‘paathan’, taking part in numerous akhand paths in gurdwaras as well as homes.
Inderjite was the wife of the youngest of three teenage brothers who arrived on the shores of Malaya then. With the three brothers Dara Singh, Inder Singh (Taiping) and Gurdial (KL/Selayang) having passed-on some years back, the wives survived them until last year when Sardarni Harbans Kaur, wife of Sardar Inder Singh, passed-away followed by Sardarni Suwaran Kaur wife of Sardar Dara Singh about three months ago and now Sardarni Inderjite Kaur, with all leaving behind a legacy of the Bhatts with their children, grand-children and great-grand children to carry on.
We, the family of Sardarni Inderjite Kaur, will always be proud of her – her love and compassion knew no bounds, she was a survivor, lived through tough times, raised eight children against all odds especially during the hard-times of the 1960s and 1970s. She was our woman of substance and we will try our best to fit into her shoes. May Waheguru Bless her soul.
