Perth-based Sikh Association of Western Australia (SAWA) took part in the ANZAC Day Parade in Canning today (April 25). The volunteers ran a booth that hosted free chaa (tea) and cookies as well as an exhibition on Sikhs and Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC).
They also handed out the Kanda Poppy pin to participants from the Sikh community. In 2012, the Khanda Poppy Project was set up to create awareness of the immense sacrifices made by Sikh for the Western society.
