Singapore diplomat and public policy strategist Navjote Sachdev has been awarded the 2026 Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship and will head to the Harvard Kennedy School later this week to pursue a Master in Public Administration as a Mason Fellow.
The scholarship comes after more than a decade in public service and offers him “a rare opportunity to step back” and reflect on his work, while learning from Harvard faculty and an international cohort of classmates, he shared in an update on LinkedIn.
Sachdev is currently Special Assistant to Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, a role he has held since July 2024. His work places him close to high-level diplomacy, supporting the minister in meetings with global leaders and contributing to policy decision-making amid a period of geopolitical uncertainty.
His public service career has spanned South and Southeast Asia and the United States. Before his current posting, he served as Deputy Director of the Air Hub Division at Singapore’s Ministry of Transport from 2022 to 2024.
From 2018 to 2021, he was posted to Malaysia as Counsellor (Political) and First Secretary (Political) at the Singapore High Commission in Kuala Lumpur. He earlier served at MFA as Country Officer for Malaysia and Brunei, and later the Americas.
Sachdev holds a first-class honours degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford. He was also a Michael von Clemm Fellow at Harvard University from 2013 to 2014.
