Vaisakhi kick-off in Malaysia

The annual Vaisakhi kick-off for Malaysia is now going on at the International Youth Centre (IYC) in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.

Dubbed the The Grand Vaisakhi Event, the four-day, multi-event function, will end tomorrow.

The event was initiated by Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia (SNSM) in 1999 as one key event then to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the Khalsa.

The four-day event will see continuous kirtan/katha, children programmes, open door bazaars and running Guru ka Langgar.

On 25 April, the Selangor state-level Vaisakhi open house will be held in Petaling Jaya. Organised by the Coalition of Malaysian Sikh Organisations (CMSO) and Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (Petaling Jaya City Council), the Selangor mentri besar Azmin Ali is expected to  attend the function.

In Singapore, the Sikh community is organising the Khalsa Week 2015 with a host of programmes lined-up this month.
