Malaysian-based Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Academy held its first ever Scotland family camp on an island off the coast of Glasgow from July 23-26.
The academy headquartered in Kuala Lumpur has been organising regular annual camps for its students in Malaysia, with the most recent attended by some 300 people at a beach resort in Lumut, Perak. [See story here]. It runs 89 centres in 12 countries with a total of 52,000 students.

SGGS Academy’s Family Samelan at Isle Of Mull, Highland, Scotland from 23rd July 2015 to 26th July 2015. Day 1
The Scotland SGGS Academy held their first ever SGGS Family Samelan from 23rd to 26th July at the Isle of Mull, an island off the coast of Glasgow. More than 90 participants attended this inaugural samelan.
Maharaj ji came with the sanggat, by road from Glasgow and then up the ferry to the Island of Mull.
The samelan was at camp site, where the participants erected and stayed in their own tents. It was a lovely sight seeing families setting their own tents.
The next three days were simply awesome, with morning simran and nitnem sessions, followed by workshop and games in the afternoon. Yes, games in the afternoon…well its Scotland, even at 12pm, the temperature was like 11 degrees. This followed by kirtan sessions, in the evenings. Then came the climax sleeping in the tents. The temperature was 5 degrees !!! For the Malaysian sevadars – they will no longer complain about the humid Malaysian weather.
Its was certainly a new experience not only for the participants and the local sevadars but also the SGGS Academy sevadars who joined the samelan as well.
