The new Indian Ambassador to Thailand, Bhagwant Singh Bishno, paid a courtesy call to Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha at the Government House recently.
Gen Prayut expressed Thailand’s readiness to strengthen relations with India in every capacity, including technological cooperation, Islamic education for Thai students, as well as medical, beauty and wellness tourism, according to a spokesperson.
Both countries are also planning to promote closer military ties and anti-terrorism efforts.
Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan and Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak are scheduled to visit India to officially establish cooperation in the areas of defense and trade late this month, according to one report.
Bishno, whose appointment was announced in December 2015, was earlier the Deputy Permanent Representative of India to New York. He arrived in Bangkok on 20 Jan 2016.
