    MANIKA KAUR: Kirtan for Causes

    By Anandpreet Kaur

    How do we sit quietly
While entire countries burn to the ground

These are the opening lines of the video latest released by Sikh musician Manika Kaur depicting the challenges faced by one segment of the human race.

“I started writing my feelings down about what’s happening in the world and it came out as sort of this poem,” she tells Asia Samachar. “I knew I wanted to make a video that would hopefully inspire people to be more aware and involved with what’s happening In the world.”

    WE ARE LOVE

    By Manika Kaur

    How do we sit quietly
While entire countries burn to the ground
    Bombs blasting children to pieces
While we catch it on our selfies, hanging out at hip places
    What do these pictures prove?
    Who are they for?
    Have we lost all compassion
    Have we forgotten what matters?

    Let’s rise up and roar
No more bodies on our shores
No more pollution in our oceans
    Let’s talk about solutions

Let’s educate each other, with love
    Without judgement let’s talk about,
Poverty it’s 2016 and poverty is the highest it’s ever been,
It’s not just hungry children on the street,
It’s the mothers and fathers killing themselves to make ends meet
It’s the endless suicides from sheer desperation because we took this beautiful planet with free air and free water and we tax and we tax and we tax till there’s nothing more

    Let’s rise up and roar
    Let’s stand with the poor
Why should some children get to eat, go to school, Have a bed to sleep…

Whats with the media perverting the truth while thousands are massacred
Yet we sit in silence – where is the balance? why don’t we care for longer than it takes to hit ‘share’
Why are we so afraid to take a stand in controversial issues…

    Let’s rise up and roar
No more bombings, no more wars
No more homeless on the streets
    Let’s work together, practice peace..

Let’s talk about Governments that condemn freedom of speech,
Lock them up like animals – for their beliefs..
Why are women still not equal?
When did “feminist” become a dirty word?
What is wrong with this world…
Governments bailing out banks and big corporations.. while the masses lose their savings
And more despair is created through propaganda, promoting hate, targeting people because of their faith

    What is going on?
We want peace, no more pieces torn…

    Let’s rise up and roar
    We are kindness,
    We are compassion
    We are one
    Hear us roar
    We are love
    We are love
    We are love
    We are LOVE

    1. The poor are poor becsuse of greed for wealth of those in power resulting in 0.8% owning world wealth.
The migrants sre homeless because of the greed for power of politicians and religious fanatics who want to control of minds.
The women are treated as slaves as in many societies they are treated as properties of men who abuse and use them as they like. Sadly other women and religions are used for this abuse.
The children are no more gifts of the Almighty but used for cheap lobor or sex.
HUMANS HAVE BECOME INHUMAN AND ALMIGHTY MAY BE USING SOME TO WIPE OUT ALL AND MAY BE START ALL OVER AGAIN.
HIGHEST LEVEL OF FRAUD AND CORRUPTION IS IN THE NAME OF THE ALMIGHTY WHO HAS BEEN COMMERCIALIZED. LOOK AT ALL THE YATRAS TO HOLY PLACES OF SIKHS-HINDUD-CHRISTIANS-ISLAM AND ALL ARE FINANCIALLY RICH WITH THEIR TRUSTEES LOVING IN LUXURY AND OFF THE OFFERINGS OF THE POOR.
Few billionnairs but BILLIONSIN POVEVERTY and the poor told it is their fate. GOD IS GREAT.
THE GURUs lived modestly but just look at today’s religious palaces and Deraas.
