WINNERS: Gurdwara Sahib Pulapol team won the Futsal Girls Under-21

By Jagdesh Singh

Malaysia’s Holla Mahala sports is in full throttle. There wasn’t any lack of action last weekend when the futsal and badminton competitions kicked off.

Kampung Pandan won the futsal boys (above 21) while Pulapol took home the top spot for futsal girls (under 21).

The crowd was palpable, the energy was high and the quality of sportsmanship was commendable.

“One of the best ways to engage with the Youth is through sports. But not just any sports, but team sports that promote teamwork and understanding. I’m really proud to see our youth trying their very best here today but at the same time making friends with their opponents. The brotherhood and sisterhood amongst all is really why Sabha is doing all this,” Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia (SNSM) Jatheder Dr Jasbir Singh tells Asia Samachar.

Holla Mahala, #hmg17, organised by SNSM is an inter-gurdwara youth game.

As an avid futsal fan, I’m happy to report that there’s high levels of quality at all group stages, including the all female under 21 category. The Men’s Above 22 category had some thrilling matches, high octane speed and exquisite skills.

The under 12 category had it’s fair share of drama as well, like the years before. It was evident that the kids had their fun playing the game they loved, cheered by their peers and parents alike.

Tomorrow, the athletics kick off at the MPSJ stadium at Subang Jaya, with football and netball at the Club Aman facilities. Come one and come all!
