Dr Aranjit Singh has taken up a new role as a Consultant ENT Surgeon at Ipoh Specialist Centre, marking a milestone in a medical journey shaped by discipline, humility and a deep respect for patients’ lived experiences.
A proud native of Malim Nawar, Dr Aranjit was born in a family rooted in public service. The values of integrity and responsibility were instilled early on by his parents: his father, Dalbi Singh, a former safety and human resource officer, and his mother, Omarjeet Kaur, who served as a Senior Assessment Assistant with Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh. Their example quietly paved the way for his own path in medicine.
Dr Aranjit completed his postgraduate training, earning his Master of Medicine in Otorhinolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). He began his clinical career with housemanship at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun in Ipoh and subsequently served as a medical officer at Hospital Teluk Intan. He is actively engaged in academic contributions, with several publications and numerous national and international presentations.
Asked what drew him to medicine, Dr Aranjit describes it simply as “the privilege of walking with people in their most vulnerable moments.”
One experience that left a lasting impression involved a retired teacher who underwent voice box removal for cancer. Writing on a notepad, the patient explained that his goal was not to “sound like a machine,” but to converse naturally with friends in a noisy café. For Dr Aranjit, it underscored that head and neck cancer care is not only about survival, but restoring dignity and social connection.
Beyond the clinic, Dr Aranjit finds joy and balance in family life with his wife, Rina, and daughter, Meher. An avid reader with a passion for history and biographies, he also enjoys following football, with a loyal supporter’s heart for Newcastle United.
Dr Aranjit Singh aims to bring to the Ipoh Specialist Centre not only his exceptional expertise as an ENT surgeon but also a heartfelt, patient-centered approach that turns treatment into genuine care.
