RUD Karting has said it is willing to cooperate with relevant parties following a freak go-kart accident in Puchong that left a 21-year-old man with serious head and scalp injuries.
The operator told TwentyTwo13 that it had completed an internal investigation into the July 11 incident involving Maanroshan Singh, whose hair reportedly became entangled in the go-kart while he was driving with friends.
“The unfortunate driver was given extremely prompt assistance by multiple staff when the incident occurred, and was brought to the hospital by managers for further attention,” RUD Karting said in a statement quoted by the Malaysian news portal.
The operator said CCTV footage, timing data and call records could be made available to establish the facts, while taking into account the privacy and welfare of Maanroshan and his family. It added that it was awaiting a response from the family regarding further aftercare matters and wished him a speedy recovery.
“In support of the verified findings, we are open and willing to work with any relevant parties to assist the injured driver and verify any required facts,” it said, adding that customer safety remained its priority.
According to TwentyTwo13, the incident has placed the safety standards and emergency procedures of recreational sports venue operators under scrutiny. Allegations that Maanroshan was not attended to promptly have also raised questions over the circuit’s standard operating procedures.
The 21-year-old victim was initially taken to Hospital Serdang before being transferred to Hospital Putrajaya for specialist treatment.
In an earlier report, Maanroshan’s mother, Charanjeet Kaur, told Asia Samachar that her son was undergoing emergency surgery.
Witnesses cited in previous media reports alleged that his helmet came off during the accident and that professional medical assistance was not immediately available. These claims have not been independently verified.
Maanroshan had recently returned from a six-month voluntary work stint in Germany and was due to return there in August to pursue a technical and vocational education and training programme.
