Two major Sikh camps are coming your way in Malaysia in the next fortnight: the Akaal Camp and Simran Retreat 4.0.
The first will unfold at the scenic Khalsa Land, the camp retreat of Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia at Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor.
Akaal Camp will run for four days starting Jan 8. Participants must be 13 years and above. The trainers include Uptej Singh (UK) and Shanti Kaur Khalsa (US).
The week after, you have a chance to head towards Kuantan, Pahang.
The Simran Retreat 4.0, a three-day Sikh camp led by lawyer-parcharak Harcharanjeet Singh, will be held at Gurdwara Sahib Kuantan between Jan 16-18, 2015.
“The floods have made way for us to run the camp,” said Harcharanjeet, fondly called Raja Sahib.
Among those who will present at the camp are local kirtani Gurmukh Singh and Kulvinder Singh aka Kemey Veerji.
Some of the younger local kirtanis who will also be there are Ashvinderjit Singh, Prithipal Singh and Jesmit Singh from the Yatra Jatha, and the Keshgarh Tanti Saaj Jatha.
“Folks normally enjoy the kirtan, simran and outdoor activities. We will also have a picnic at the Teluk Chempedak beach,” said Harcharanjeet.
