Pulapol Eagles emerged as the maiden champions of the Akaal Premier League (APL), the first under-13 futsal league for Sikh boys and girls in Malaysia.
The chase for the championship was down to the wire. Rawang Akaal Warriors gave a stiff challenge, losing the top spot only on goal difference.
The other four teams competing were Beruntung Hill Twin Lions, Titiwangsa Panthers, Iron River Kings FC and Kampung Pandan Lions.
Pulapol Eagles also took home the Golden Glove (for the team conceding the least goals) and the Golden Boot (for the top scorer).
In fact, all three top scorers of the tournament came from Pulapol Eagles: Akesh Singh with 19 goals, Kabir Singh (18) and Rishipal Singh (17). They were trailed by Manvinderjit Singh (Rawang Akaal Warriors) with 12 goals and Preetraj Singh (Kg Pandan Lions) with 8 goals.
The tournament, played in a home-away league format comprising six teams, was organised by the Akaal Sports Academy (ASA), a sports non-government organisation headquartered at the Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Kampung Pandan in Kuala Lumpur.
“It’s exciting to see the young ones running after the ball, chasing for every opportunity. We owe it to the team officials and parents for taking the trouble to bring them here,” ASA chairman Nagender Singh aka Nick tells Asia Samachar.
In today’s games – Match Day 6 – Pulapol Eagles continued their scoring spree, hammering Kg Pandan Lions 8-0.
Rawang Akaal Warriors also won their final game against Beruntung Hill Twin Lions 2-0. The victory tied them points wise with Pulapol Eagles, but they lost out on the goal difference.
Titiwangsa Panthers and Iron River Kings ended their game in a goalless draw.
