Singapore-based carrier Scoot Airline plans to start flying to Indian cities of Amritsar and Chennai on 24 May 2016.
The long-haul low-cost ariline, wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA), will become the fourth airline from Singapore to establish its presence in the world’s fastest growing aviation market, reports PTI.
“We are going to start flights from May 24 into India. Chennai and Amritsar are both going to be launched the same day. Services to Jaipur will be launched from October 2,” PTI quotes Scoot country head Bharati Mahadevan said.
In 25 Oct 2015, Malaysian hybrid airline Malindo Air launched its first flight to Amritsar, making it then then only airliner from Southeast Asia to serve the Punjab city.
Scoot also announced special promotional all-inclusive economy class fares for its flights from India, starting as low as Rs 4,250 and Rs 11,900 for ScootBiz to various international destinations, the report added.
A check by Asia Samachar at Scoot Airline website showed that passengers can get a return Singapore flight for S$270 or about RM780, inclusive of airport taxes.
While Chennai will be a daily service, flights to Amritsar and Jaipur will operate three times a week to begin with, Mahadevan said.
The airline plans to scale up services to Amritsar and Jaipur to four times a week from July 1 and October 28, respectively, he said.
