Dr Keeratpal Singh joins Axiata as Chief Data Scientist

Dr Keeratpal Singh – armed with more than two decades of experience in telecommunications, software development for mobile and development of analytic solutions – moves to telecommunication company Axiata as its Chief Data Scientist.

He was previously the Principal Data Scientist at Mimos Berhad since September 2012. As a principal data scientist, he has designed algorithm for simulating predictive and prescriptive analytics, incorporated statistical libraries such as time forecasting for big data processing as part of software development for business intelligent solution.

Dr Keeratpal is an experienced data scientist and a senior enterprise architect in areas like analytics, digital services, big data, mobile advertising, telecommunications network, go-to-market strategy, and mobile applications.

Prior to Mimos, he the vice president for research and development at 24MAS between August 2009 and September 2012 where he managed a team of developers to provide mobile advertising solutions in Sweden and Asia Pacific.

Dr Keeratpal has a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and a MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He later read a PhD in Electrical Engineering at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

In recent years he had contributed international journals, presented research papers in engineering and usage of technology for crime prevention, filed three patents pertaining to mobile enterprise platform, public safety and big data processing, obtained LTE certification and was awarded gold medal for invention in the area of location-based services, according to his biodata.

He has also spoken at various industry conferences.
