Unitar University College Kuala Lumpur (UUCKL) has appointed Jagdeep Singh Jassel as its Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive, reinforcing the institution’s leadership bench as it advances its growth and transformation agenda.

Jagdeep, who joined Unitar towards the end of 2024, brings a multidisciplinary leadership background spanning manufacturing, hospitality and higher education. Most recently, he served as Business School Dean at Mapúa University in the Philippines, where he was tasked with establishing a new business school in collaboration with Arizona State University.

Prior to that, he held CEO roles at Naza College of Technology and Business and INTI International College Kuala Lumpur, where he led institutional turnaround initiatives, academic repositioning and industry-linked programme development.

Reflecting on his journey, Jagdeep said his appointment underscored the power of perseverance and opportunity.

“From a modest childhood in Seremban, I never imagined I would one day walk into a university, let alone lead one. This journey reminds me that no dream is too distant when belief, perseverance and opportunity come together,” he told Asia Samachar.

Born and raised in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, Jagdeep is the son of the late Satwant Singh, who served in the Malaysian Armed Forces, and the late Jasvant Kaur, a homemaker.

His professional career also includes senior leadership roles in private equity-backed, turnaround and start-up environments, as well as with multinational organisations such as Samsung Corning Malaysia, ICI Paints Malaysia (AkzoNobel), Avillion Hotels International and Laureate International Universities.

UUCKL, formerly known as Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University College (KLMUC), is part of the UNITAR Education Group, which is led by its CEO Puvan Balachandran.
