  1. There may be several multi-millionnairs in Shah Alam. As the beneficiaries of the new Gurdwara Complex some of the more affluent ones may consider following the example set by some former TATT KHALSA COMMITTEE MEMBERS and some others who MORTGAGED THEIR OWN PROPERTIES TO RAISE URGENTLY NEEDED FUNDS FOR THE TATT KHALSA BUILDING COMPLEX. The advanced interest exempt loans were settled later when Sanggat made donations.
Another place of ‘surplus’ funds may be some Gurdwaras who have substantial funds with some in MILLIONS OF RINGGIT in their FIXED DEPOSITS WITH BANKS EARNING A MEASLY 3% TO 4% INTERESTS INCOME ANNUALLY. This would be a good opportunity for these excess funds Gurdwaras to assist CASH SHORT FUNDS Gurdwaras by providing period loans. Payment of interest rate could be considered which could be HIGHER THAN WHAT THEY ARE GETTING FROM BANKS but would BE LOWER THAN WHAT THE NEEDY GURDWARAS ARE PAYING FOR THEIR OVERDRAFT FACILITIES. This suggestion was made when TATT KHALSA needed funds but most surplus funds Gurdwaras rejected with reasons that ‘FUNDS NEEDED FOR OWN PROJECTS’ [even though some of the Projects were not implemented, if implemented, for many years or ‘WE DO NOT HAVE CONFIDENCE THAT THE ADVANCED FUNDS WILL BE REPAID WHEN REQUIRED’.
Sadly this denoted that even LEADERS OF some GURDWARA MANAGEMENT COMMITTEES [‘GMC’] were NOT WILLING TO ASSIST OTHER NEEDY GURDWARAS.
Now the ‘GMC’ with surplus funds have another opportunity to assist FINANCE SHORT GURDWARAS SUCH AS THE SHAH ALAM ‘GMC’ who has appealed for funds as it is RM700k short.
‘GMC’ should realize that the GURDWARA FUNDS ARE TRUST FUNDS BELONGING TO SANGGAT AND SHOULD AND CAN ALSO BE USED TO ASSIST OTHER GURDWARAS IN NEED. CHANGE OF MINDSET IS NEEDED.

It is further noted that the distance between the new Gurdwara and the older Gurdwara is less than four miles. Consequently it may be doubtful if there is sufficient number of Sanggat to make two Gurdwaras in close proximity sustainable both financially and visitors-wise and this may also create problems for some Sanggat as to which of the two Gurdwaras they should go to do their prayers.

Similar situation exists in Kg Pandan, KL where there are two Gurdwaras within one mile distance with the
new Gurdwara Complex having large land area and infrastructure/facilities and still the older one is being proposed for renovation.

The problem of lack of Sanggat is probably being felt by the Sanggat in the case of POLICE GURDWARA in HIGH STREET as there is another POLICE HERITAGE GURDWARA IN PARLIAMENT STREET just a mile away with both facing shortage of Sanggat and another POLICE HERITAGE GURDWARA IN POLICE DEPOT IN Gurney Road which is being patronized by Sanggat from Setapak/Gombak areas as entrance has been made possible via the rear.

Thus it may be perceived that the new Gurdwaras may not have been a ‘need’ but rather a ‘want’ of some. Consequently it is further recommended that ‘GMC’ who are ambitious to have larger/newer Gurdwara. Complexes should have ensured availability of sufficient funds to avoid cash flow problems and to avoid any possibility of financial embarrassment and danger of Project being abandoned midway.

The local Sanggat may consider the two Gurdwaras in close proximity be amalgamated and the older building and land be disposed off and the realized funds used be improve/expand the facilities of the larger newer Gurdwara Complex which can then also cater for the needs of the Y-Generation who appear to be ‘missing’ from Gurdwaras programmes for whatever reason.

NUMBER OF GURDWARAS INCREASING BUT SANGGAT NUMBERS DECREASING.

DO ALL YOU CAN BEFORE ASKING OTHERS FINANCIAL/OTHER HELP.

Above are suggestions without malice and apologies if anyone feels offended.

  2. This is not directed at this Gurduara, in particular. Many comments have been made.It has been mentioned that many past officials have often mortgaged their homes to help pay for the Gurduaras in the past.

A look back indicates, that in the past , they were very clear to what the pathway of the Gurduara would be.People had respect and strong belief the Gurduara would be run according to the recognised SIKH REHAT MARYADA.These days it is not the same.

I am sure Sr Ranjit Singh Kaleke, one such honourable person would cringe, if he knew the Gurduara he has help built would one day be entertaining an organisation that is working against the Gurmat and promoting fake books and stories to distable the Sikh religion and people.

Many people are in position to offer, but wonder what these gurduaras would do in future?Like Titiwangsa and Pulapol indulge and support anti Gurmat actions, by promoting cult teaching outside the Gurbani?

It is a fear and concern that is real. One of the reasons, I gather many people have stopped supporting.
