An all-student run programme will take place at eight gurdwaras nationwide on Malaysia Day, with Panjabi Education Centre (PEC) students leading prayers, kirtan, announcements and other parts of the programme.
The Sept 16 Sanjhi Ardaas Semagam will also serve as an awards ceremony for students who sat for the SPM Panjabi Language paper in 2025.
A total of 72 students took the paper last year, with 45 of them, or 63%, scoring distinctions.
The sixth annual programme is organised by Khalsa Diwan Malaysia (KDM), in collaboration with PECs and gurdwara management committees.
It aims to give students practical exposure to conducting programmes in the Darbar Sahib while seeking blessings for their examinations and education.
Under the supervision of Panjabi teachers, students will recite Gurbani, perform kirtan, present poems and sakhian, make announcements in Panjabi, conduct the Sanjhi Ardaas and take the Hukamnama.
They will also participate in serving Degh and Guru Ka Langgar.
This year, host PECs are also being encouraged to conduct a Sahej Paath so students can participate in the reading and in the Sahej Paath Da Bhog during the semagam.
The eight venues are Gurdwara Sahib Railway in Ipoh; Gurdwara Sahib Bayan Baru, Penang; Gurdwara Sahib Sentul in Kuala Lumpur; Gurdwara Sahib Mantin, Negeri Sembilan; Gurdwara Sahib Johor Baru, Johor; Gurdwara Sahib Kuantan, Pahang; Gurdwara Sahib Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and Gurdwara Sahib Kuching, Sarawak.
The programme begins at 8.30am, with the main Darbar Sahib programme starting at 9.30am.
The Sikh community has been invited to attend and support the students as they build confidence in Punjabi, Gurbani, kirtan, seva and participation in gurdwara programmes.
Sikhs are a creation, energetic, hardworking community. They should bring back all the satnamy, nankpanthy, Nirabkari to their fold by dialogue and not by violence. Violence is rejected by all modern societies ! Guru Gobind was a protector of Hindus. He modernised Sikhs , converted them in an army to protect Hindus. Because of army came the discipline with it came turban, not cutting of hair, carrying a weapon. Hindus and Sikhs are the two faces of the same coin. India has over 100,000 Sikhs inthe army , India’s Air Force forces chief is Sikh , General Joginer Sikh was Sikh. Jinnah kicked out all Hindus, and Sikhs from Pakistani army ,that says a lot. 25 % of officer corps Indians army is Sikh. It says a lot!!! Hindus are not the enemies of Sikhs . Bhidranwale was a false preacher. Punjabi Hindus used to contribute one son to the Sikh army our bonds are permanent!
