Kulim workshop opens doors to the professional world for youth

KULIM: Forty-seven participants, including Sikh youths, parents and young people from outside Kedah, gained first-hand insights into the professional world at a career workshop in Kulim, today.

Jointly organised by Kulim Naujawan, Gurdwara Sahib Kulim and Malayan Sikhs Education Aid Funds (MSEAF), the Career and Professional Workshop was aimed at helping young people understand career opportunities, workplace expectations and the skills needed to build sustainable careers.

Five professionals from different sectors shared their experiences and advice during the programme. They were Dilmindar Singh, AVP Business Development at SingSaver under MoneyHero Group; Dr Gurbinder Singh, Director and Head of Automotive Quality at Infineon; Baljinder Singh, Technology Director at Infineon Technologies; educator and academic Jasminpreet Kaur; and MSEAF chairman Manraj Singh Sandhu.

Their sessions, held at the Gurdwara Sahib Kulim, covered areas including hospitality, automotive quality, technology and engineering, education, leadership and professional development.

Participants were able to ask questions on career pathways, workplace challenges, professional skills and career progression, giving them exposure beyond what is typically available in the classroom.

The workshop also helped parents gain a better understanding of current career opportunities and the different educational and professional pathways available to their children.

Organisers also highlighted the importance of transferable skills such as communication, leadership, problem-solving, adaptability, networking and continuous learning.

The participation of youths from outside Kulim allowed attendees to build new connections and broaden their networks.
