Perak Sikh Union (PSU) has raised RM430,000 for the RM10 million club house now under construction Ipoh, the state capital of Perak.
“Since the day its was established, it has always been a dream for PSU to build its own club house which all Sikhs can call their own,” PSU President Gurjeet Singh Rhande told a dinner in Ipoh yesterday (30 April 2016).
The dinner was held in conjunction with its annual kirtan competition, annual Vaiskahi games and golf tournament.
The Khalsa Club, planned on a 6-acre land purchased in 2002, is designed to have a multi purpose hall, sporting facilities, conference rooms, swimming pool, badminton courts and a restaurant.
The dinner was attended by some 500 people, including participants, officials, coaches and managers of the games.
This year marked its 34th Annual Vasakhi Games. The games held were hockey, football, badmintion and netball. On the same day, golfers from all over Malaysia participated in the Perak Punjabi golfers.
Also present at this dinner were Malaysia Singapore Sikh Sports Council (MSSSC) executives and participants of the Medan Cup (Hockey) scheduled for today.
On 1 May, PSU also held the 27th Annual Kirtan Competition, which attracted 22 kirtan groups nationwide. One of the jathas was Panth Khalsa Jatha from Gunung Rapat in Ipoh, Perak (see photo above).
