Five teams compete at UTP Bhangra Dance-Off

utp-bhangra-1611-1Malaysia’s first every open bhangra dance-off is set to take place at the Universiti Teknologi Petronas in Seri Iskandar, Perak in one week’s time on 19 Nov (Sunday).

The Bhangra Dance-Off, badged as the first ever open bhangra dance competition in Malaysia, is organised by the UTP students.

Five teams from Malaysia, India, Hong Kong and Singapore have confirmed their participation in the event which will feature a guest performance by Sandeep Brar from India.

The teams are Gajjdi Jawani (Malaysia), Naveenah Arts (Malaysia), Nachda Punjab Youth Club (India), Funjabi Bhangra (Hong Kong) and Sadi Wakhri Ah Taur (Singapore).

“The event is to promote bhangra, one of the cultural dances in a multiracial Malaysia,” one of the organisers told Asia Samachar.

The event will be held at the university’s Chancellor Hall. Tickets are priced at RM10.
